This project aims at the implementation of a new approach for effective interactive retrieval. We will combine highly efficient retrieval algorithms with a new theoretic model, the Interactive Information Retrieval Probability Ranking Principle (IIR-PRP). The interaction will become more user-oriented, more intense, and with an enriched functionality. For the latter, we will provide additional surveys and specialised search functions. More efficient searching algorithms and procative system behavior will support a closer and faster interaction. Based on the IIR-PRP, the user interaction will be optimized by considering the user's cognitive effort and the expected benefit for the various interaction possibilities. These approaches will be evaluated in user experiments, which will also provide the necessary data for improving the interaction design.
